[KB-033] How do I configure Star Wars Pinball VR to work with my Arcade2TV-XR?
Product: Arcade2TV-XR / Star Wars Pinball VR | Platform: Quest VR | Confidence: High
Answer:
Star Wars Pinball VR requires specific in-game configuration to work properly with the Arcade2TV-XR controller:
Configuration Steps:
Enter the Star Wars Pinball VR game
Navigate to the TV inside the game world
Open the Options menu
Change the flipper controls from the default (LT/RT) to LB/RB
The X-Arcade device uses LB/RB for the flipper buttons, so this setting must be changed for the flippers to work
Important Notes:
- Arcade Ranger setup can be complex, depending on the emulator cores and configuration.
- For users unfamiliar with emulation or arcade setups, Arcade Ranger can take a little getting used to, while Pinball FX VR should be very straightforward to set up and jump into.
- Older Tanksticks can be used with Arcade Ranger only through a more complex workaround: convert the Tankstick to a wireless keyboard using a compatible wireless keyboard adapter, then connect that adapter path to the Quest headset. Xgaming has seen this work, but the Tankstick VR / Arcade2TV-XR controller is the simpler supported experience.
- Arcade Ranger does not include licensed ROMs for the classic arcade machines. Those cabinets may appear empty until the user loads their own games through SideQuest or the documented Windows folder structure.
- Xgaming is interested in having developers create an 'X-Arcade mode' for the Tankstick VR controller for Visual Pinball X (VPX) to enhance the pinball-in-VR experience.
- Xgaming collaborated with Zen Studios to include a physical 3D representation of the Arcade2TV-XR within the Pinball FX VR game environment, ensuring the unit appears as an integrated object rather than just a poster advertisement.
- Xgaming provides technical feedback and beta testing services for third-party software developers who are integrating X-Arcade hardware into their VR or AR applications.
- For a correctly identified Gen2 Pinball/XInput setup, test the side flippers after the LB/RB adjustment; changing it alone did not fix every reviewed case. Test physical nudge and plunger separately.
- For other Zen pinball titles on Meta (besides Pinball FX VR), the Gen 2 dongle's purple mode uses XInput, and accelerometer data is translated into the gamepad A-pad for nudge behavior, resulting in a different feel compared to Pinball FX VR's digital slap nudge.
- In the Gen 2 wireless dongle's Purple Mode, the bottom two buttons on the Player 2 side are mapped to the Y-axis (up/down) of the right thumbstick; this can be used as a diagnostic test to verify input recognition.
- The Zen Pinball title 'Fallout' is compatible and works with the X-Arcade setup.
- The Zen Pinball title 'Creature From the Black Lagoon' is a plunger-based table and should work with the X-Arcade setup.
- Pinball M is compatible with the Arcade2TV-XR; for correct flipper and plunger mapping when using the Gen 2 wireless dongle on PC, the device should be set to Pinball Mode (blinking purple LED), which merges inputs into a single X-Input controller.
- Zaccaria Pinball is compatible with the Arcade2TV-XR and functions correctly using the pinball mode configuration.
- If Classic fails, identify exact component versions, mode and failed tests before any support-directed matched firmware change. Do not reflexively reflash.
- A reviewed customer sometimes needed to close/restart Star Wars after Classic; do not promise title switching is always seamless. Record the exact games and recurrence.
- Xgaming treats requests for custom firmware mappings for specific third-party or sideloaded games as feature requests, which are prioritized for development based on community demand.
- For Arcade Ranger game, not all cores will work, and users might need to experiment to find compatible ones. Cores can be downloaded from https://buildbot.libretro.com/nightly/android/latest/arm64-v8a/. Additional emulator cores can be added by placing compatible .so files into the MyCores folder, which is located in the same directory as the MyRoms folder.
- In the Arcade Ranger software, the display can be realigned and snapped to the controller base by pressing Player 1 and Player 2 simultaneously while the controller is fully seated in the dock.
- To resolve height issues in Arcade Ranger, first set your height correctly in the Meta Quest system settings. If the issue still persists, you can further adjust your height within the in-game settings menu.
- Arcade Ranger maintains a community Discord server (https://discord.gg/79hgFB4KmY) that hosts guides for adding ROMs, customizing cabinet skins, music, and posters.
Flipper Button Mapping Issue: If flippers remain mapped to the front buttons instead of the side flipper buttons, ensure you are using the purple mode (solo/pinball mode) and that the correct in-game settings are applied.
Gen2 has a supported Star Wars path, but failure does not prove the dongle is defective. Give support exact versions, mode and already-failed mapping tests before a replacement is selected. Star Wars / Classic mapping already tried: preserve the actual recovery sequence
Scope: original Arcade2TV-XR, separate Haptics Kit and Gen2 on Quest; not XR MAX. In a January 2026 test history, changing in-game settings alone did not restore side flippers. A tested replacement Gen2 restored Star Wars side-flipper input, but physical nudge/plunger and Classic play still failed. After subsequent Haptics PCB and matched component updates, the production original-XR setup was reported working across FX, Star Wars and Classic. This combined recovery does not prove a single component fault or justify an automatic replacement/flash.
The prototype in the same test still lacked nudge after updates, and Star Wars sometimes needed closing/restarting after switching titles. Do not claim every prototype/revision has the same result or that switching titles can never cause an issue.
- Record controller, Gen2 and kit versions, actual mode and the exact game/table. Keep Pinball FX VR's red keyboard branch distinct from other titles' purple Pinball/XInput branch.
- Test side flippers after the documented in-game LB/RB adjustment. If it already failed, report that instead of repeating it as guaranteed.
- Follow the current component-matched guide with support; this January sequence is historical, not a recommendation to install old firmware or mix versions.
- Retest side flippers, physical plunger, physical nudge and audio vibration separately. For a title-switch issue, fully close/relaunch the affected game and report recurrence. A working FX game does not prove Classic or Star Wars is fixed.
Missing purchased Classic tables are a separate account/content-entitlement issue, not a reason to reflash controller hardware. In June 2026, reinstall and reboot did not restore one customer's tables; staff said X-Arcade cannot inspect Zen purchases/licensing and directed the already-contacted Zen support route. No entitlement restoration was confirmed.
