Learning Proposal: Haptics Kit Power Switch And Pinball Mode

Proposed Learning

When an Arcade2TV-XR customer reports that the haptics kit, plunger, or nudge sensors do not respond on PC, verify both of these before assuming a defective haptics board:

  1. The haptics kit power supply and inline power switch are on, and the haptics kit control/button lights are illuminated.
  2. The controller is in the dedicated Pinball Mode, not D-Input or standard X-Input.

Use Windows joy.cpl to verify input behavior. The Arcade2TV software may correctly show Keyboard Mode and D-Input Mode, but it may not reliably identify X-Input Mode or Pinball Mode.

Evidence

Freshdesk ticket 30828. After multiple firmware/mode/plunger diagnostics, support noticed the haptics kit did not appear powered on. Customer later confirmed: "Well it all works after powering on the haptics kit power switch. My issue seems to have been not getting into the correct mode."

Drafting Guidance

For future private-note drafts, lead with a low-friction power and mode verification before asking for replacement videos or treating the plunger/nudge path as defective.

Do Not Overstate

Do not say every plunger/nudge failure is caused by the power switch or wrong mode. This was the confirmed fix for this ticket and should be used as an early diagnostic gate.
