Tankstick joystick sticks in one direction

Useful Answer

If a Tankstick joystick keeps registering one direction after the stick returns to neutral, inspect the joystick and microswitch alignment from inside the unit.

Useful checks:

If one direction does not register at all, such as Player 1 left, open the case and inspect the terminal on that direction's joystick switch before replacing the joystick. One confirmed case was fixed after the customer opened the Tankstick and secured the loose terminal back onto the joystick switch.

If the microswitch looks normal but the shaft is visibly off-center compared with the working side, treat it as a joystick centering/manufacturing issue rather than a mapping or programming problem.

Only replace the affected joystick. If a two-joystick replacement pack is sent, keep the second joystick as a spare; there is no need to replace the working side.

Source Context

The customer's right joystick intermittently stuck in the upward direction. Photos showed the right joystick shaft resting lower than the left joystick, leaving a gap at one microswitch arm and slightly depressing another. Support treated this as a manufacturing issue with joystick centering and sent a replacement joystick pack. A separate Player 1 left-direction failure was fixed after the customer opened the case and reseated a loose terminal on the joystick switch. Another shipping-related button failure was fixed after the customer found and reconnected an unplugged connector on the green internal board.
