Mounting a double coin door in an Arcade1Up cabinet

Useful Answer

Arcade1Up cabinets use thin MDF, so the stock kick-panel face plate usually should not be trusted to support a double coin door by itself.

Recommended approach:

  1. Reinforce the back of the kick panel with an additional backing board.
  2. Enlarge the existing cabinet cutout to fit the double coin door.
  3. Use the X-Arcade coin door mounting template and installation manual:

For wiring, connect the coin switches to the same connector used by the original Arcade1Up coin button on the PCB. This lets the coin door work like a normal button press when a coin is inserted.

If the coin return buttons catch or sit off-center after installation, improve alignment by adding one M3 washer and one M6 washer on the screw that holds the bracket on the back of the door. Place the washers between the screw head and the bracket so they act as a spacer.
